In the simplest of words, she is the smartest witch of her generation, an overachiever, and lastly but most importantly, great friend. As the story sets in, be it the book or the films, we find out about a girl who is a know-it-all, confident among nervous first-year students and seems to be more comfortable in the magic world despite growing up a Muggle-born. Nobody likes know-it-alls, and that is why one should never judge a book by its cover because once we get to know Hermione Granger, we cannot help falling in love with her and everyone wants to know how to be like Hermione Granger.

1) Social status does not matter

Hermione was a fighter for the rights of house-elves. She always had a big heart when it came to being empathetic to the mistreated. She inspired several women to advocate for their rights. The term “strong independent women” was coined for Hermione! Her morals always remained her number one priority, and they were even more important than her own family. In the battle of good versus evil, Hermione went to insane lengths to do the right thing. She must have read Dante saying, “The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis.”

3) Knowledge is always important

“When in doubt, go to the library.” Golden words to live by and undoubtedly very true, too. The biggest lesson to learn regarding this was the fact that Hermione always had some knowledge that ended up being crucial to the adventures of Harry Potter. It is not a lie; Harry would not have lasted a day without her friends, especially, Hermione. Her knowledge was the reason Harry discovered the Horcruxes, and that is just one example of many.

4) Always be expressive

“You have the emotional range of a teaspoon!” Hermione exclaims at her future partner, Ron. She certainly did not. She had her fair share of heartbreaks from being at the heart of the love triangles to erasing the memory of her parents before she set out on her final adventure to defeat the Dark Lord. We saw Hermione Granger expressing a wide range of emotions throughout the series. From crying in the dungeons when the troll attacked to letting the magical birds lose on Ron and laughing until they all had tears in their eyes. Live each moment to the fullest!

5) Owning Up to Who You Are and Being Brave

“Books and cleverness? There are more important things in life – bravery and friendship, Harry.” Little did we know, Hermione was the complete package. While she is the smartest witch of her generation, she was also the bravest and proved it on every occasion. From trying to set a professor on fire to taking down Death Eaters, Hermione showed that she was a brave woman who will stand up for what she believes in and she will fight for what is right.

6) It’s Okay to Break Rules Sometimes

“It’s sort of exciting, isn’t it? Breaking the rules.” It is, Hermione! While she made sure to memorize all the rules of Hogwarts and tried her level best to abide by them, she also knew when to break them. She always had her priorities set right. When she had to break the rules, she did it better than anyone. From being a co-creator of Dumbledore’s Army to brewing Polyjuice Potion to break into Slytherin’s dressing room.

7) Bros before ho*s

While calling Ron, a ho* might not be the best of ideas. It certainly shows Hermione’s dedication to the truth and prioritizing friendship over everything else. Harry Potter series is a lesson of bravery a fight between good and evil, but most importantly, it is a tale of friendship. Hermione embodies this concept in a perfect manner. She did not go after Ron, knowing he was wrong, and stuck with Harry through that tough time. She was always there for her closest friends and even gave up hot looks in Viktor Krum to prioritize true love, when needed.

Hermione’s story is a different lesson for every person reading it. There are so many lessons that we cannot possibly even mention. Hermione’s background of being born in a Muggle-family that did not practice any magic, and her journey to becoming the smartest witch of her generation is truly one that should be remembered.
