This week’s big release on Switch, or update to be more accurate, was version 2.0 of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. A lot of the additions in the free update have been in demand for some time, with the likes of Brewster’s cafe, gyroids, Kapp’n boat trips, tons of items and a whole lot more.

There’s also the Happy Home Paradise DLC, which is a charming paid add-on in which you get to flex your designing skills. You can either buy it outright or opt to sign up to Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack and gain access that way, both good options if you want a meaty expansion to the game.

We’ve been having a lot of fun exploring the minutia of these updates, and it’s terrific how many small touches there are when it comes to additional goodies like cooking and decorating. Social media is full of people having a jolly time, too, with plenty of players showing dizzying levels of commitment to collecting everything and making incredibly attractive room designs, among other things.

But, we’re interested in what you think of the update and DLC. Nintendo’s goal with this one (and only) ‘major’ update is to expand the game for newcomers and lure long term players back, do you think it’s succeeded? Do you have the DLC, or are you planning to get it? So many questions…

Share your thoughts in the polls and comments below, as always.
