Nintendo has announced that it won’t be attending this year’s Tokyo Game Show, scheduled to take place from 30th September.

The company has taken to social media to share the news with fans. A Google translation of the tweet below reads, “Nintendo will not exhibit booths or game titles at the ‘TOKYO GAME SHOW 2021 ONLINE’ to be held from September 30, 2021. We will only cooperate in exhibiting indie games from other companies.”

Companies that are attending the event include Xbox, Capcom, Bandai Namco, Sega, Konami, 505 Games, and Square Enix, the latter of which will be showing off the highly-anticipated Switch exclusive Project Triangle Strategy.

While it’s a bit of a shame that Nintendo won’t have its own official presence during this year’s TGS, it’s worth remembering that the company will no doubt hold its own video showcase – yes, we’re talking about a Direct – in its own time. Historically, September has been a good month for Directs, so it wouldn’t be surprising if a presentation is currently in the works.
