Apple WWDC 2023: What to Expect?

There is a lot to expect from the WWDC 2023 this year. As per reports, Apple will announce its much-talked-about mixed-reality headset, likely to be called Reality Pro or Reality One. The headset will likely launch later this year for $3,000.

The headset is said to have been in the works for the last seven years. Apple has reportedly streamlined all efforts and company resources into the mixed reality headset so much so that development plans of the iOS 17 were also said to be impacted.

Having said that, it’ll be interesting to see how all of Apple’s latest developments converge at the event. Moreover, Apple has reportedly started adding apps to work on this platform. The mixed reality headset’s operating system is said to be called “Borealis” internally and is expected to be renamed xrOS.

Apple is also likely to unveil its upcoming operating system, iOS 17. Earlier reports claimed that the upcoming software would pack not only bugs and fixes but would also contain “user-requested features“. Apple is likely to introduce sideloading and alternate app stores as part of iOS 17.

Apart from iOS 17, Apple is also said to showcase upcoming software across all its devices such as iPadOS 17, macOS 14, watchOS 10, and tvOS 17.

There are also rumors that Apple might want to introduce its Apple Silicon chipset to more of its devices and one of the first contenders for this could be the Apple Mac Pro. Apple made the transition to using its own Silicon chipsets two years back and going by the timeline, Apple may want to revamp the hardware too.

Apart from software updates, hardware updates, and the mixed reality headset, there is a possibility that Apple introduces its 15-inch MacBook Air at the event as well. Rumors floating about claim that a 15-inch MacBook laptop is in the works, that ships with a 30W charging adapter.

The reports about the MacBook are all the more likely since Apple introduced its 13-inch MacBook at last year’s WWDC.

WWDC is Apple’s biggest developer event where the company unveils not only its latest offerings but also showcases its upcoming technologies and plans for the future.
