Molloy dining chair by Adam Goodrum for Nau Design

Dezeen Showroom: rounded timber joinery that echoes the bends of a river characterises the Molloy dining chair, created by designer Adam Goodrum for Australian brand Nau.

The Molloy collection is named after Molloy Island in Western Australia – the site of Goodrum’s hand-built family holiday home – and the meeting place where two rivers merge into one and then divide again.

This undulating feature influenced the Molloy dining chair, which is made up of eight CNC-milled elements that “jigsaw together”, according to Goodrum.

“The Molloy chair components are accentuated by contrasting grain directions where they meet to become one,” said Goodrum, who also prioritised comfort and practicality in the design.

“My intention was to create a beautiful dining chair that could stack but would hopefully not read as a stacking chair,” said the brand.

The Molloy collection also includes a bar stool, dining table and coffee table, all made of solid timber and available in a variety of finishes.
