Gregory Katz Great Primary Shapes House

The latest edition of our Dezeen Debate newsletter features a South African home comprised of geometric forms designed by architect Gregory Katz. Subscribe to Dezeen Debate now.

Katz designed the home in Johannesburg, South Africa, form a series of squares, circles, triangles and an octagon.

The brick and concrete four-bedroom residence was inspired by Elements, a book by the ancient Greek mathematician Euclid, which Katz was reading when designing the home.

Commenters were fascinated with the project. One described it as “bonkers but brilliant”, while another labelled it “an experiment in geometry”.
