Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Expansion Release Date and Exciting Trailer Revealed

The highly anticipated expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, titled “Phantom Liberty,”
has finally received a release date and an action-packed trailer. Unveiled during the Xbox Games Showcase, the trailer showcased the thrilling new content and announced that the expansion will be available on September 26 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X platforms.

The Plot of Phantom Liberty

With this expansion, players will have the opportunity to explore the uncharted district of Night City called Dogtown and embark on a high-stakes spy mission to rescue the President of the New United States of America (NUS). The trailer also confirmed the return of Keanu Reeves in his role as Johnny Silverhand, which was hinted at in last year’s teaser.

The trailer for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty sets the stage for an intense narrative. The protagonist, V, is shown grappling with anxiety about her impending fate. However, Silverhand provides reassurance and expresses his belief that there must be a solution to the limitations imposed by V’s cybernetic enhancements.

One notable addition to the expansion is a revamped system that introduces a maximum capacity for new body modifications. This means that players may need to start a new playthrough to fully explore and experience the changes.

CD Projekt Red has also introduced the Edgerunners perk, allowing players to surpass these limitations but at the expense of their overall health. This concept bears resemblance to the cyber-psychosis depicted in the Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, where excessive Cyberware installations lead to uncontrollable behavior.

In a December announcement, CD Projekt Red revealed that Idris Elba would be joining the cast of Cyberpunk 2077 for the expansion, portraying the character Solomon Reed.

Platform Exclusivity

To ensure a smoother experience compared to the game’s initial launch, the expansion will only be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, excluding last-gen consoles.
