Life Lessons by Hermione Granger
“It’s LeviOsa, not LevioSA!”, young, smart, and courageous! Hermione Granger is perhaps one of the favorite characters of everyone who has had the good fortune of reading or watching the Harry Potter series.
Hermione was not only a realistic character but one to whom everyone could relate to. We all know a Hermione Granger in our circle, and if you do not have one, I have got news for you! In the simplest of words, she is the smartest witch of her generation, an overachiever, and lastly but most importantly, great friend. Today we take a look at some of the quotes by Hermione Granger and the lessons we can learn from her story.
As the story sets in, be it the book or the films, we find out about a girl who is a know-it-all, confident among nervous first-year students and seems to be more comfortable in the magic world despite growing up a Muggle-born. Nobody likes know-it-alls, and that is why one should never judge a book by its cover because once we get to know Hermione Granger, we cannot help falling in love with her and everyone wants to know how to be like Hermione Granger.
1) Social status does not matter
“At least nobody on the Gryffindor team had to buy their way in.” This was just one of the many brilliant responses from Hermione to her group’s nemesis, Draco Malfoy. Hermione proved throughout her time in Hogwarts that it does not matter if you are a pureblood or a Muggle-born, you can achieve the same things. Being born into a better-off family does not give you any superiority over another person. She goes on to overachieve in every single course of her year in school, while, helping Harry take down Lord Voldemort.
2) Empathy and morals reign supreme
Hermione was a fighter for the rights of house-elves. She always had a big heart when it came to being empathetic to the mistreated. She inspired several women to advocate for their rights. The term “strong independent women” was coined for Hermione! Her morals always remained her number one priority, and they were even more important than her own family. In the battle of good versus evil, Hermione went to insane lengths to do the right thing. She must have read Dante saying, “The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis.”
3) Knowledge is always important
“When in doubt, go to the library.” Golden words to live by and undoubtedly very true, too. The biggest lesson to learn regarding this was the fact that Hermione always had some knowledge that ended up being crucial to the adventures of Harry Potter. It is not a lie; Harry would not have lasted a day without her friends, especially, Hermione. Her knowledge was the reason Harry discovered the Horcruxes, and that is just one example of many.
4) Always be expressive
“You have the emotional range of a teaspoon!” Hermione exclaims at her future partner, Ron. She certainly did not. She had her fair share of heartbreaks from being at the heart of the love triangles to erasing the memory of her parents before she set out on her final adventure to defeat the Dark Lord. We saw Hermione Granger expressing a wide range of emotions throughout the series. From crying in the dungeons when the troll attacked to letting the magical birds lose on Ron and laughing until they all had tears in their eyes. Live each moment to the fullest!
5) Owning Up to Who You Are and Being Brave
“Books and cleverness? There are more important things in life – bravery and friendship, Harry.” Little did we know, Hermione was the complete package. While she is the smartest witch of her generation, she was also the bravest and proved it on every occasion. From trying to set a professor on fire to taking down Death Eaters, Hermione showed that she was a brave woman who will stand up for what she believes in and she will fight for what is right.
6) It’s Okay to Break Rules Sometimes
“It’s sort of exciting, isn’t it? Breaking the rules.” It is, Hermione! While she made sure to memorize all the rules of Hogwarts and tried her level best to abide by them, she also knew when to break them. She always had her priorities set right. When she had to break the rules, she did it better than anyone. From being a co-creator of Dumbledore’s Army to brewing Polyjuice Potion to break into Slytherin’s dressing room.
7) Bros before ho*s
While calling Ron, a ho* might not be the best of ideas. It certainly shows Hermione’s dedication to the truth and prioritizing friendship over everything else. Harry Potter series is a lesson of bravery a fight between good and evil, but most importantly, it is a tale of friendship. Hermione embodies this concept in a perfect manner. She did not go after Ron, knowing he was wrong, and stuck with Harry through that tough time. She was always there for her closest friends and even gave up hot looks in Viktor Krum to prioritize true love, when needed.
Hermione’s story is a different lesson for every person reading it. There are so many lessons that we cannot possibly even mention. She had everything from looks, academic brilliance, bravery, skill and even a heart of gold that helped Harry tremendously in his fight against the evil Lord Voldemort. Hermione’s background of being born in a Muggle-family that did not practice any magic, and her journey to becoming the smartest witch of her generation is truly one that should be remembered. Hermione Granger quotes mean the same to Potterheads and Muggles alike, and offers inspiration to everyone!
